Nominated for the Romantic Novel of the Year Award 2010

'Marriage and Other Games' has been listed in the final top 20 for a literary award. A starting list of 158 novels, from twenty-four publishers, were submitted for the first round of judging and on the 14th of December 2009 the Romantic Novelists' Association published the 'longlist' of authors who are nominated for the 'Romantic Novel of the Year Award' for 2010. 2010 is also the Association's Golden Anniversary year. Below is a section of their announcement.

'The long list of twenty novels, announced today, includes an impressive selection of best sellers, among them Erica James, Veronica Henry, Santa Montefiore, Katie Flynn and Sarah Duncan. They share the list with some exciting new names in romantic fiction, and the only male to make the long list, Nicholas Sparks...' The full list can be seen here.

The Festival is being held at the University of York - two hours by train from London and easily reached from anywhere in the UK or overseas. This is the venue for all the workshops, talks, meals and all other events. More info...

Workshop given by: Veronica Henry - Keeping all your balls in the air

Veronica has written 100s of hours of broadcast TV (credits include Holby City, Heartbeat, Doctors, etc). She's also a hugely successful novelist, with seven novels to her name. She specialises in strongly-written, character led dramas.

Life has multiple protagonists - so why not fiction? Unfortunately, too many actors can cause your story to fall apart. Using her experience as scriptwriter and novelist, Veronica will show how to structure multi-protaganist fiction and give all the characters a satisfying emotional journey.

This video below was made in 2005 and is a synopsis of the 'Honeycote' plot. Things begin to deteriorate quickly and eventually goes slightly wrong. Is this a blooper? - Can they keep it in their trousers?

'Veronica Henry's debut has all the ingredients of a good summer read...plenty of sex, scandal and shenanigans all set in and around the Honeycote Arms.'
